Mr. Keir Starmer QC, visits Jamaica (30/09/2009)
Mr. Keir Starmer QC, head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), visited Jamaica from 26-30th September 2009.
The Crown Prosecution Service has been providing training and expertise to the Jamaican justice sector in an effort to improve their prosecution services.
During Mr. Starmer’s visit, he met with Jamaican ministers and senior legal officials to press for enhanced collaboration. He also took the opportunity to visit a CPS-led training session for Jamaican prosecutors.
A reception was held on Monday 28th September at the High Commission, to mark the visit of the DPP. This was attended by several senior Jamaican politicians and lawyers.
