Our offices in Jamaica
Kingston is the UK's third largest Mission in the Americas (after Washington and Bogota). The High Commission has a close working relationship with the Jamaican authorities and there are nine government departments and agencies represented on the staff comprising Political/Media, Defence, Management, Trade & Investment, DFID, Visa, Consular, Pensions Sections and a British Council office.
There are some 100 persons working on the compound, including 35 UK-based staff plus extra visa officers in the summer. There is an Honorary British Consul in Montego Bay. The Post also covers The Bahamas, with consular work undertaken by an Honorary Consul and an officer in Nassau. Visas for residents of Bahamas are processed by the British Consulate General in New York.
