Disabled access

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office and this High Commission are keen to ensure that their buildings and services are fully accessible to disabled members of the public. Wherever possible, we have made our buildings and services accessible. Sometimes however, this is not possible due to security or other restrictions. In these situations we will endeavour to provide a service or access to a building in an alternative way to ensure equality of access for disabled people. To assist disabled visitors, we have set out below details of disabled access at this High Commission. We hope this information is helpful.

General Physical Access:

  • Entrances: all entrances to the High Commission are clear and unobstructed;
  • Ramps: there are permanent ramps in place providing access to visa and consular sections as well as the main reception area;
  • Lifts: regrettably there are no lifts and thus no wheelchair access to the first floor;
  • Toilets: there are two toilets on the ground floor with access for wheelchair-users or those with limited physical mobility;
  • Parking: because of security constraints there are no parking facilities available for visitors;
  • Floor coverings: all floor coverings are safe and even;
  • Handrails: are available on all staircases;
  • Doors: all doors are easily accessible to all users, apart from security doors that pose some unavoidable difficulties;
  • Lighting: there is good modern lighting on all floors.

Access for Visually Impaired Visitors:

  • Signs: most signs have been recently replaced and are clear and easy to read;
  • Guide dogs: are welcome.

Access for Deaf / Hard of Hearing Visitors:

  • Hearing dogs: are welcome.
