Applying for a passport in Jamaica
Changes to passport production from Sept. 14
British passport services are being streamlined around the world to reduce the opportunity for fraud. After 14 September customers in Jamaica should continue to send their passport applications to British High Commission for initial checking. But production will take place at the UK Passport Service Centre for the Americas and Caribbean in Washington D.C.
The passport team in the UK Passport Service Centre aim to issue new passports within 10 working days of receiving the correct documents and information (excluding transit time). In addition to the passport fee, applicants will be required to pay courier costs to and from Washington.
All the relevant passport forms can be downloaded together with new information on the application process from ukinusa.fco.gov.uk/passports
The British High Commission in Kingston will continue to issue limited validity Emergency Travel Documents when appropriate.
